Long Shoal
Long
Shoal This rocky shoal immediately below the Lower
Keener Eddy is the longest shoal on the river. It is narrow and resembles a
"chute" and is quite turbulent at high flows. The most difficult part
of running a boat through this shoal is that the majority of the water is being
pushed right against a rock ledge, as seen in the pictures below, making it
hard to stay clear of that ledge. While it is not actually a continous shoal,
it consists of a series of shoals separated by small pools of water.
This shoal leads to the Perrine Ford, just above the Willis Long Plout.
